Montana Seasons: What to Expect
Weather out here moves fast, and the season you choose shapes everything from guest comfort to your backup plan. Here's a look at the year in western Montana so you can book with your eyes open.

Spring (April–May)
The valley greens up and days warm unevenly. This is the wettest stretch of the year, May and June bring the most rain, so ground can stay soft, and snow still falls at higher elevations. The upside: open calendars and better dates.
Summer (June–August)
Warm days, cool nights, and long evening light. June is usually the clearest and greenest, before fire season sets in. From late July into August, wildfire smoke can settle into the valleys and haze out the views, some summers stay clear, others go smoky for weeks. Worth keeping a flexible date range and a covered option ready.
Early Fall (September–October)
Often the most dependable stretch of the year: cool, dry, crisp air and turning color, with thinner crowds. Days shorten quickly and the first mountain snow can arrive, so evenings turn cold fast.
Winter (November–March)
Snow-covered and quiet. The Continental Divide shields western Montana from the hardest arctic cold that hits the eastern side of the state, but days are short, travel gets icy, and valley cold settles in. Plan on heated tents or indoor space and warm-up breaks for guests.

FAQs
Is there a mileage fee for delivery? Yes. We charge a round-trip mileage fee based on distance from our location in Lolo, MT. Delivery is complimentary within 60 miles of Lolo. Beyond that, we still apply the complimentary zone and only bill for the additional miles. Example: A wedding in Three Forks is roughly 370 miles round-trip. We deduct the free 120 miles (60 each way), leaving 250 billable miles.
Is there a deposit, and is it refundable? Yes. A 50% deposit is required to book your date. This deposit is non-refundable because it holds your date on our calendar and takes it off the market. Once we accept a deposit, we turn away other clients who want that same date, so we are unable to replace the booking if it is later canceled. The remaining 50% is due 14 days before delivery or pickup (whichever comes first). Your final invoice also includes a separate refundable damage & incidentals deposit: $500 on orders of $1,000 or more $250 on orders under $1,000 We return this deposit within 14 days after pickup and inspection, minus any charges for damage, loss, or excess cleaning. We do not keep a credit card on file.
Can I add items to my order later? Yes. You can add items to your order anytime up to 7 days before delivery, subject to availability. Any additions made after your final payment is due must be paid in full at the time you request them. Please note that items removed after the agreement is signed are not credited. We reserve your quantities and turn away other bookings to hold them for you, so it’s best to firm up your numbers before you sign.
Is there anything we need to do to prepare the area? Yes, a few simple steps help everything go smoothly and keep extra fees off your invoice. Before we arrive, please have underground utilities marked by calling Montana 811 (dial 811) at least two business days ahead. It’s free and keeps our stakes out of your utility lines. Montana 811 does not mark private lines, so please point out sprinklers, septic systems, pet fencing, and low-voltage lighting yourself. Also: Clear the area of debris and animal waste Do not mow within 48 hours of setup or while the tent is up Shut sprinklers off 24 hours before delivery and keep them off until after pickup
